As an experienced dramatic writer and longtime fan who has recently turned to writing for comics, Andy's insights, professionalism, and easygoing manner were refreshing. Klaus Janson - Artist and Writer
|
Klaus Janson came to America in 1957, when he was five years old. At that early age, Klaus cut apart Superman and Lois Lane comics, rearranging the images to construct newstories. Years later, a valuable and life saving apprenticeship with his mentor DickGiordano encouraged Klaus to pursue comics art. Eventually, Klaus earned two major breakthroughs: First, Daredevil with Frank Miller allowed the two artists to experiment within a budding medium—a struggle between artistic instinct and intellect. The two creators subsequently teamed up on Batman: The Dark Knight Returns—a redefining story for both Batman the character and mainstream American comics as a whole.Klaus’s second breakthrough was teaching at The School of Visual Arts.Klausbelieves that communicationis humanity’s mostpowerful tool—coming in many forms and through many media, but at its root, communication is telling a story. Klaus lives in New York, where he writes, draws, inks, colors and teaches comics. Occasionally, he still has delusions of competence.
