Double Page Spreads
ANDY SCHMIDT: Many of us probably have favorite splash-images from comics that take up both pages of a spread. But believe it or not, the double-page spreads are fairly complicated–both for writers and artists–so understanding the challenges and extra parameters is essential before you use them. Once those are understood–then take advantage of what they have to offer to propel your story to the next level! We’ll go over some different formats and abilities of Double Page Spreads so you can start using them with confidence and maximizing their effects!

Finding the Tone and Look for your Comic Book
ANDY SCHMIDT: One of the questions Andy gets asked the most is “How do I find an artist for my comic.” A good question, but not a great one. The real question is (whether your a writer looking for an artist or an artist looking for a new project) how do I find the right collaborator for this specific project. Andy will go over a few keys to identifying the artistic talents best suited for your project and how to go about finding those types of creators. Don’t just find someone to work with–find someone to bring the story to life!

Panel Descriptions
ANDY SCHMIDT: You’ve got to write them if you’re a writer. You’ve got to interpret them if you’re an artist. Andy goes over the different kinds of panel descriptions, best practices in how to write them and interpret them, as well as why the term “Panel description” might just be the wrong name for how writers communicate their storytelling needs to the artist!
