Creators Workshop Member Ken Porter Announces The Fearless Rider with Scholastic!

Comics Experience Creators Workshop member Ken Porter announced that his and Zach Wilcox’s original graphic novel The Fearless Rider will be published by Scholastic’s Graphix imprint! The middle grade GN tells the story of thirteen-year-old Kara, who run away from home with her ferret on the first day of school. The Fearless Rider joins other middle grade graphic novels, like those by Raina Telgemeier, in the Scholastic Graphix catalogue, which has taken the graphic novel market by storm, most notably in its success in school libraries and Scholastic Book Fairs.

In Fearless Rider, Kara takes off on her bike to find her best friend Alice, with whom she’s lost contact after Alice moved away. Along the way, Kara meets people who help her come to terms with her loneliness.

It’s a coming of age story about friendship and how people grow apart, which isn’t always a bad thing,” Ken said.

Ken has long been active in the Comics Experience community, having taken the Introduction to Writing Comics, Scripting Your Mini-Series or OGN, Comic Book Editing and Project Management, and Lettering and Production courses.
