Our course offerings are always expanding, thanks to YOUR ongoing interest and support.
Here are two we want to make sure you know about right now!
First up is a BRAND NEW Master Seminar, taught by renowned artist Phil Jimenez: ACTION AND ACTING ON THE COMIC BOOK PAGE! We’re thrilled to make this seminar available for the very first time, as it touches on some of the most crucial but overlooked aspects of comic penciling.
This special, one-day session provides an in-depth exploration of how character expression, composition and movement inform the reader’s experience. Jimenez is best known for his work on Wonder Woman, Infinite Crisis, New X-Men, and The Amazing Spider-Man, and he brings the full range of his experience and insight to share with students in this course.
Comics Experience founder/CEO Andy Schmidt co-hosts, and, as always, students will receive all the advantages of both instructors’ expertise, plus a limited class size. That includes personalized attention from Phil and Andy, as well as the opportunity to interact with peers, receiving detailed, encouraging and constructive feedback.
And remember, this special ONE-DAY seminar has no prerequisites: the course is structured so that students at all levels will find practical advice and insight that they can put into practice immediately. All you need is a high-speed internet connection. (Headphones or ear buds are helpful but not required.)
The seminar is set for May 10, 2014 — save the date and visit the course page for details and enrollment info!
We’re also pleased to offer another Advanced Comic Book Writing course, taught by Andy Schmidt. This 5-week, limited-enrollment course is titled Advanced Comic Book Writing: Building Your Series.
Each of Andy’s Advanced Writing courses focuses on a unique aspect of comic writing in order to offer focused, specialized instruction. This course:
…teaches you how to craft irresistible characters, build themes and imagery, and develop a world for your characters to inhabit. It’s about planning more than just a story—it’s about planning your imaginary universe—and driving your readers to want more!
Students in this course can expect to have a fully developed, pitch-ready project by the end of the 5-week session. It’s available to those who have completed the Intro to Writing course, building and expanding upon its foundation. Course begins April 2, so don’t wait!
There are plenty more details available on the Courses section of our website, including an in-depth FAQ for each course listed. Enrollment is limited and demand is high, so be sure to check it out now!
