CE Alum Releases “Robin Hood: Outlaw of the 21st Century”!

CE Alum Matt Dursin has just released a new comic, titled “Robin Hood: Outlaw of the 21st Century.” The story’s path to completion began in 2009, when Matt wrote the first five pages as a Comics Experience writing assignment!

9695_104402BA few years and a successful Kickstarter campaign later, the comic is now available in print through IndyPlanet.com, and a Kindle edition is available at Amazon.

Matt describes the story as a “modern update of the classic Robin Hood legend, [where] the bold outlaw steals medicine and gives it to those in need.

In the first issue, “Robin Hood and his merry band set their sights on bigger game when they decide to loot a local big-box store of all their medical supplies.”

Matt explained how the story developed  in the very first session of his CE writing class —  after having to reject his first concept!

“Andy asked us to pitch an idea and gave us something like two minutes to come up with the idea for a 5-page story, and the idea I had sucked. And he said that the idea has to be something that will pull people in or nothing else will matter. So Robin Hood came from that.”

The “Robin Hood” creative team also includes Mark Vuycankiat, Tamra Bonvillain, and L. Jámal Walton. The team  has another three issues planned.

We always enjoy hearing about new projects from CE students past and present. Congrats to Matt and the rest of the team on their launch!
