New York Comic Con is October 6 through 9, and Comics Experience will be there!
At this year’s NYCC, Comics Experience founder and instructor Andy Schmidt is offering a panel discussion, a family workshop, and a live streaming interview. These events will be open to all convention-goers, so spread the word and bring your friends!
On Friday, October 7, Andy will participate in a live streaming interview onstage at the Fandom booth (#154). He’ll be talking about how to write for video games — a topic he knows well, and taught a Comics Experience course on!

BREAKING INTO COMICS
October 07, 2016, 7:45 PM – 8:45 PM
Andy Schmidt, (Marvel and IDW editor and Comics Experience founder) won’t just tell you how to budget a comic, he’ll SHOW YOU! On Screen! He’ll walk you through the very real costs of creating a comic book, publishing it and distributing it through certain channels. It’s eye opening and fear inducing—but then he’ll give you some serious tips on how to save money and get back to black!
LET’S MAKE A COMIC: PARENTS & KIDS TOGETHER TIME
October 09, 2016, 2:15 PM – 3:15 PM
Family HQ – 1E16
Parents, bring your kiddos, a few sheets of paper and a pencil, and let’s get your kids making comics! Join Comics Educator, former Marvel Editor and Comics Experience founder Andy Schmidt for a quick–child-based–tutorial on how to get your child’s creativity flowing onto the page in front of them. In very quick and easy steps, Andy will teach you and your child how to make a comic story on just one sheet of paper, how to learn to draw ANYTHING, and get you and your child making a comic–right in this session! Your child could walk out with his or her own comic a the end of this hour! How awesome is that?
In addition to Andy’s events, artist Reilly Brown and writer Fred van Lente – both pro members of the Comics Experience Creators Workshop – will have tables in Artist Alley. Find Reilly at table R8, and Fred at W12!
We expect to have a great gathering of other community members, pros and friends at the con too, so be sure to keep an eye on our social media for updates.
We hope to see you at NYCC, October 6 through 9, 2016!
If you want to make comics, write, draw, letter, and color comics, or improve as a comics creator, you’ll find like-minded friends and colleagues in our online workshops and courses. We hope to see you there!
