Beginning June 6, writer and instructor Paul Allor will lead students in a brand-new Comics Experience course offering: Creating Great Characters. Enrollment is open, and you can register right here!
In this course, Paul – a CE alum-turned-professional writer – will guide you through some of the common pitfalls of character development and how to avoid them. He’ll also introduce specific tips and techniques to help you shape compelling, complex characters, in ways that make the most of the unique freedoms and constraints of the comics format.
Check out our interview with Paul here. In it, he talks about how easy it is to overcome some of those beginners’ mistakes, once you have the right tools. He also goes into detail about what students can expect from his class sessions. (Spoiler alert: the key is FUN.)

Paul’s writing credits include creator-owned and indie titles like Monstro Mechanica (AfterShock), Tet (IDW/Comics Experience), and Past the Last Mountain (Gov’t Comics), as well as licensed properties for Marvel, Dynamite, and IDW, including extensive work on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise.
Space in Creating Great Characters is limited, so don’t wait! Class starts on Wednesday, June 6 and meets weekly in our live online classroom for six weeks.
