Comics Experience Art Instructor Robert Atkins participated in an interview with his former student Scott Sackett at Dallas Fan Expo 2016! That interview is now available on Episode #124 of the Better Than Fiction podcast, hosted by Scott and D.L. Nelson.
Better Than Fiction is a weekly pop-culture podcast with a focus on comic books. Each episode your hosts DLNelson and Scott Sackett bring a pop-cultured themed hit to the table and talk at length about their featured topic. Besides their “Cool Stuff”, they do creator interviews, talk pop-culture related news, art process and comic book conventions.
In the interview, which begins about 10 minutes into the podcast, Robert touches on different aspects of his background and career:
- How a college stint doing real estate illustrations helped his later work
- His experience in Savannah College of Art and Design Masters Program
- Balancing a creative career with family life
- Teaching art courses with Comics Experience!
The interview occupies about 45 minutes of the podcast, and is a great way to hear about how one artist has built and maintained a fulfilling career.
