Comics and Kids! Teaching Making Comics to Kids in One Hour
ANDY SCHMIDT: Andy goes through a process that he uses when he visits Elementary Schools in Kentucky (mostly) and gives talks to kids. The best part is, if you’re a writer who doesn’t think he or she is an artist, this stuff will work with you, too! It’s just beginner level stuff, and if you’re an artist that doesn’t fancy yourself a writer, come and see the basic building blocks of stories. We will also focus on how to teach kids or work with kids to produce a comic. If you’ve got kids of your own, try making a comic with them after this session!

How a Publisher Thinks
ANDY SCHMIDT: Goes through the process that most publishers use to evaluate a project from the pitch phase to doing an estimate of what the first issue sales may be as well as the sales trend over a series. This is a great way to start evaluating your own stories, pitches, art, and what you might be able to offer publishers or how you might run a Kickstarter or some such campaign.

Building an Audience and Fan Base
ANDY SCHMIDT and REILLY BROWN: There’s much talk about building your base, but how does one do that? There are several different ways that it can happen, and there’s only so much preparation you can do for it, but Reilly and Andy are going to talk through their experiences and tips for how to interact with your audience and build that trust and that anticipation.

If you want to make comics, write, draw, letter, and color comics, or improve as a comics creator, you’ll find like-minded friends and colleagues in our online workshops and courses. We hope to see you there!
