New Course! Perspective and Environments with Robert Atkins

atkins-bioJust a few more weeks before  we  debut one of our most-requested courses yet!

Artist and veteran Comics Experience instructor Robert Atkins will be teaching a class on  Perspective and Environments. Now, students will have the opportunity to take an in-depth look at how to use these  crucial elements of visual storytelling, under the guidance of  one of our most popular faculty members.

Whether it’s Comics, Film, Animation, or Video Games, a successful story needs to communicate as much through its environment as it does through its characters. As Andy Schmidt explained on our Creators Workshop Forum:

GIJOECover21“[It’s] not just on perspective, another component to perspective that a lot of artists struggle with is placing the objects and making them feel like they’re interacting with the environment, so this is unlike any other perspective course that we know of–the course as awesome as we could make it!

I’m so glad we were finally able to offer this FUNDAMENTAL course for any student of art!”

Art students at all levels will feel at home in this course —  the limited class size will allow individual attention from Robert, and each assignment builds on the last for a cumulative effect for beginners and more advanced artists alike.

From the course description: “These assignments will be specifically built around the types of environments you’ll have to draw in any given comic or story medium. And best of all, by the end of the course, if you follow through, you’ll wind up with some portfolio pieces to boot!”

Instructor Robert Atkins graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design with an M.F.A., and began a career in comics soon after. Robert has penciled comic titles including  GI Joe, Snake Eyes, Amazing Spider-Man, Venom and Heroes for Hire. He’s taught at SCAD, where he also developed a mentorship program for student artists, and has developed some of Comics Experience’s most popular courses.

We’re excited about this latest course offering! Classes begin March 26 and last for five weeks. This is sure to fill up fast, so register today!
