Brian Michael Bendis to Teach Comics Writing Master Seminar, July 27 & 28, 2016!

Bio Photo - Brian Michael BendisThis July 27 and 28, Comics Experience will offer a one-time-only Master Seminar session on comic book writing, taught by bestselling writer Brian Michael Bendis!

Bendis, award-winning writer of Marvel’s All-New X-Men and Uncanny X-Men, creator of Powers, and New York Times bestselling author, will spend two evenings teaching new and experienced writers alike how to hone the perfect comic book script and get into the heads of their characters, as well as into the hearts of readers.

“One of the great joys of my life is being able to pass down the knowledge I have accumulated over my years of study,” said Bendis, who also teaches at the University of Oregon and Portland State University. “That is why I teach. That is why I wrote Words for Pictures. For years people have asked me to do my class online, but I could never figure out how to make that happen. The great people at Comics Experience have bent over backwards to arrange this classroom setting for all of us. I look forward to seeing and hearing from you.”

Civil_War_II_Choosing_Sides_Vol_1_1_Textless-232x350Moderated by Andy Schmidt, founder of Comics Experience and former Marvel editor, the seminar will provide insight into everything from work habits to on-point dialogue, as well as giving students the opportunity ask questions.

“I’ve known Brian since I was his editor on titles like Avengers, Secret War, Alias, and more. So I know from experience what a wonderful educator and generous creator he is for those who want to learn,” said Schmidt. “This is really going to be something special for fans and creators alike — especially those who can’t make it to regional conventions.”

Online registration is just $295 for two, two-and-a-half-hour sessions, held from 9 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. Eastern Time on July 27 and 28. In addition to invaluable instruction, students will have access to the recorded audio and video of the seminar for two weeks after it’s held.

Writers interested in this one-of-a-kind opportunity to learn Bendis’ most valuable advice on structure, character-building, and career management can check out our course page to register and learn more! Space is expected to fill quickly, so those who want to secure a spot are encouraged to enroll as soon as possible.
