Colleen Coover & Paul Tobin Join the Comics Experience Book Club to discuss “Bandette”

Tobin-CooverOn Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 9pm Eastern Time, special guests Colleen Coover and Paul Tobin will join Comics Experience for a Book Club discussion of Bandette, the Eisner Award-winning comic book published by MonkeyBrain Comics. The discussion will be hosted by CE Book Club Manager Paul Allor (TMNT: Fugitiod, Orc girl).

Bandette1
Bandette follows the adventures of a young costumed “artful dodger”, the leader of a group of urchins dedicated to serving justice, except when thieving proves to be a bit more fun.

The story of Bandette treads a thin line between Tintin and Nancy Drew, with a few costumes thrown in. Bandette and her crew at turns join forces and cross swords with the mysterious master thief known only as Monsieur, and one B.D. Belgique, perhaps the most harassed police inspector of all time.

The first five issues may be purchased via Comixology right here.

Colleen Coover is an illustrator and comic book aritst/writer living in Portland, Oregon. She is the creator of the adult comic Small Favors, and artist of the all-ages Banana Sunday and the graphic novel Gingerbread Girl, both written by her husband, Paul Tobin.

Bandette2She has worked for Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Dark Horse, Top Shelf Productions, Oni Press, Fantagraphics, and many others. She spends most of her time thinking up ways for comics to be more awesome.

Paul Tobin has written hundreds of comics with such characters as Spider-Man, the Hulk, the Avengers, Batman, Superman, and so on. He has done extensive work for Dark Horse on media properties such as Falling Skies, Predators, Conan, and on his creator-owned titled, Colder. Banana Sunday, produced in conjunction with his wife, Colleen, placed on Yalsa’s “best graphic novels for teens” list. He is currently establishing background stories and characters for Angry Birds, and has expanded into the world of prose with work in a Lovecraft-inspired anthology, and his first novel, Prepare To Die!.

There’s still time to join us for the live, streaming online session!

We look forward to a great discussion with Colleen and Paul!
