In September, Andy Schmidt rolls out Professional Techniques: Advanced Narrative and Storytelling Skills for Writers. Andy’s course will cover narrative tools from the technical to the creative. Ever considered how things like panel count, double-page spreads, and text layout can affect your readers’ experience? Andy will discuss those narrative devices and many more, offering instruction on how to use them most effectively.
Andy is not only the Comics Experience founder and CEO, but an established writer and editor in his own right. His writing credits include 5 Days to Die, X-Men: Divided We Stand, and G.I. Joe: Future Noir. He’s edited titles such as X-Men, Secret War, and the Annihilation saga at Marvel; and G.I. Joe and Transformers at IDW Publishing.
Then, beginning in February 2015, writer Justin Jordan will teach Professional Techniques: Writing Great Dialogue and Captions.
This is the first time we’re offering this course, which will get into pro-level detail about how words help bring your characters to life! You’ll learn to use dialogue and captions to make your characters compelling, authentic and well-defined.
Justin is the writer of creator-owned titles Luther Strode, Dead Body Road, and Spread from Image Comics, and has also written books for Valiant (Shadowman), DC (Deathstroke, Green Lantern: New Guardians, Superboy) and Marvel (A+X).
